Research. Research. Research. I genuinely believe a travelers DNA is made up of 90% planning and 10% of actual traveling. No one can argue that having a thorough playbook leads to a much better experience but filling that playbook is where the challenges lie. I would like to help you take on the endless pit of research and provide some clarity through my own trips.

My Story

I work for one of the major airlines in the United States and as a benefit of employment, I have the privilege of flying standby on all our flights. This was a major selling point for me because I knew I loved to explore new places and try exciting food. Although it is not all rainbows, standby travel does come with its fair share of challenges at times.

I named this blog “The Day Tripper” because of all the types of traveling I’ve done, taking a day trip is my absolute favorite style. If you are unfamiliar with the concept allow me to describe it. A day trip consists of a jam-packed day including a 5 AM/6 AM flight to the destination, sights, experiences, and at the end taking the last flight back home so that you may sleep in your own bed. You might be asking yourself, “how the heck can that be fun?!”. While it may not seem ideal, it teaches you to value your time and to above all else, get creative!

Not every trip I take is a day trip, some destinations just require more time than others but I try my best to plan as though it will be. I will detail my travels, experiences, and insider knowledge of different places all across the US. My hope is this will give you a chance to copy or modify my itinerary to fit your style of travel.

My Goals

When I first started my job I had 2 goals in mind.

  1. Visit every state in the US at least once. (Currently at 13 states)
  2. Visit 20 Countries in 5 Years. (Currently at 5 Countries)

I’m happy to say I’ve been making progress but I won’t gloss over it, Coronavirus has effected these goals quite a bit.

My Life

I am 23 years old, I have no children and plenty of time.
